Spasibo : “Potrudićemo se da šarmiramo Beograd onako kako je on šarmirao nas”

Moskovski indi/emo/šugejz bend Spasibo koji trenutno živi i radi u Beogradu održaće svoj koncert 8. februara u KC Gradu.

Poznati su po svojim šarmantnim nastupima uživo, pesmama koje navode ljude da istovremeno igraju i plaču. Njihov poslednji album “Терпение” (u prevodu: “Strpljenje”) izašao je krajem 2021 godine. Dobio je pozitivne ocene kritike i primljen je sa simpatijama od strane publike. Bend je sa ovim albumom obišao Rusiju, kao i zemlje Istočne Evrope i Centralne Azije.

Bend sebe opisuje svoj rad kao analogiju pijanom stanju, kada se postaje previše iskren. Spasibo su se tako stvarali iskrenu, sanjivu i višeslojnu zvučnu sliku, koja crpi inspiraciju iz alternativnog roka, šugejza i drim-popa, kreirajući ujedinjeno psihodelično iskustvo. Nakon trijumfalnog nastupa na festivalu EXIT 2023. godine, bend se vraća na scenu sa novim iznenađenjem. Bend će u Beogradu prirediti ekskluzivan šou sa dva bubnja.

Kako bih vam približio bend, malo sam proćaskao sa njima i iz toga se izrodio intervju.

HM: Koja je razlika između rada u Moskvi ranije i sada u Beogradu?

Spasibo ; Rasel (vokal, gitara): Veoma je teško odgovoriti. Poslednji put smo radili u Moskvi kao bend pre oko 2 godine. Za mene je trenutno glavna razlika samosvest. Sada u Beogradu se osećam kao da je ovo novi početak za bend.

HM : Kako će izgledati ovaj koncert s obzirom na to da ćete na njemu imati dva bubnja? Da li ćete zbog ovoga imati promene u aranžmanu?

Spasibo ; Pavel Ieremeev (bubnjevi): Postavićemo 2 kompleta bubnjeva jedan pored drugog, oni će svirati kao jedna složenija ritam mašina. Aranžmani za većinu naših pesama su već napravljeni sa dva bubnjara, tako da nema potrebe da se bilo šta menja.

HM : Po čemu se tvoji koncerti sa dva bubnja razlikuju od redovnih, da li je samo više energije ili ima nešto drugo?

Spasibo ; Pavel Ieremeev (bubnjevi): Odlučili smo da pokušamo da sviramo sa 2 seta bubnjeva 2017. i odmah nam se dopala energija koja dolazi od dva bubnjara. Naročito kada sviraju sinhronizovano i periodično se dopunjuju. Definitivno ima više energije i drugačijeg prostora jer potpuno raširimo bubnjeve na strane.

HM : S obzirom na to da će deo kluba sigurno biti popunjeno Srbima, možete li onima koji ne govore ruski objasniti o čemu govore vaše pesme?

Spasibo ; Rasel (vokal, gitara): Hvala na ovom pitanju. Pokušaću da sa publikom na koncertu razgovaram uglavnom na engleskom. Nadamo se da će naši prijatelji koji govore ruski prevesti sva značenja pesama za one koji ne razumeju. Mislim da sva naša muzika i tekstovi govore o empatiji, jedinstvu, prijateljstvu i otporu svakom obliku nasilja.

HM : Da li u Rusiji postoji rok kultura? U smislu da li slušate rok muziku?

Spasibo ; Rasel (gitara, vokal): Naravno! Za mene su svi bendovi koji su napustili zemlju i dalje deo muzičke scene. Mnogi bendovi su završili svoju istoriju nakon početka rata. Mnogi bendovi i dalje stvaraju muziku u Rusiji. Mogu da vam preporučim da slušate Florist bend. To je zaista lepa emo muzika srednjeg zapada. Nadam se da će napraviti novu muziku. Cruel Tie bend su naši prijatelji sa sedištem u Taškentu! Morate ih slušati. Seminar, Jesss, Ukol’, Bagdadski Vor, uSSSy, Holy Palms, Lucidvox, Tvar’ – svi ovi bendovi su naši sporedni projekti ili bendovi naših prijatelja. Preporučujem!

HM : Ko su vam bili uzori, koje izvođače/bendove ste najviše slušali kada ste osnovali svoj bend i u detinjstvu?

Spasibo ; Rasel (vokal, gitara): Stvarno mi se dopadaju vaša pitanja! Moj omiljeni muzičar svih vremena je Džon Frušante. Obožavam njegovu živu atmosferu punu rok inspiracije. I kao rok bend, moj uzor bi bio nešto između Thee Oh Sees, Arcade Fire i Turnstile.

HM : Poslednji album objavili ste pre tri godine, da li ćete ga promovisati ili ćete svirati pesme iz cele karijere?

Spasibo ; Igor Shaevskii (gitara) : Sviraćemo naše omiljene pesme sa svih albuma. Biće to set od sat i po i mi ćemo se potruditi da Beograd šarmiramo onako kako je on šarmirao nas.

HM : A radite li na novim pesmama?

Spasibo ; Igor Shaevskii (gitara) : Imamo neke nove demo snimke i počećemo da radimo na njima posle svirke. I pokušaćemo da snimimo nove stvari čim budu gotove. Ali još nismo odlučili da li će to biti album, ili EP, ili serija singlova. Pratite nas, stižu nove pesme!

HM : Šta očekujete od ovog koncerta?

Spasibo ; Igor Shaevskii (gitara) : Lično, očekujem gomilu srećnih oznojenih ljudi koji će se grliti nakon svirke i osećati se mnogo bolje nego ranije. I ja ću biti jedan od njih.

HM : What is the difference between working in Moscow before and now in Belgrade?

Spasibo; Rasel (vocals, guitar): It’s very difficult to answer. The last time we worked in Moscow as a band was about 2 years ago. For me, the main difference right now is self-awareness. Now in Belgrade I feel like it’s a new beginning for the band.

HM : What will this concert look like considering that you will have two drums on it? Will you have arrangement changes because of this?

Spasibo; Pavel Yeremeev (drums): We will put 2 drum kits side by side, they will play as one more complex rhythm machine. The arrangements for most of our songs are already made up with two drummers, so there’s no need to change anything.

HM : How do your concerts with two drums differ from regular ones, is it just more energy or is there something else?

Spasibo; Pavel Yeremeev (drums): We decided to try playing with 2 drum kits in 2017 and we immediately loved the energy that comes from two drummers. Especially when they play in sync and complement each other periodically. There’s definitely more energy and a different space because we’re completely spreading the drums out to the sides.

HM : Considering that part of the club will certainly be filled by Serbs, can you explain to those who don’t speak Russian what your songs are about?

Spasibo; Rasel (vocals, guitar): Thank you for this question. I will try to speak mostly in English with the audience at the concert. Hope that our Russian-speaking friends will translate all the meanings of the songs for those who cannot understand. I think that all of our music and lyrics speak of empathy, unity, friendship and resistance against any forms of violence.

HM : Is there a rock culture in Russia? In terms of whether you listen to rock music?

Spasibo; Rasel (guitar, vocals): Of course! For me, all the bands that left the country are still part of the music scene. Many bands finished their history after the war started. Many bands are still making music in Russia now. I can recommend you to listen to Florist band. It’s a really beautiful midwest emo music. Hope they will make new music. Cruel Tie band are our friends based in Tashkent! You must listen to them. Seminar, Jesss, Ukol’, Bagdadski Vor, uSSSy, Holy Palms, Lucidvox, Tvar’ – all of these bands are our side projects or bands of our friends. Highly recommended!

HM : Who were your role models, which performers/bands did you listen to the most when you founded your band and in your childhood?

Spasibo; Rasel (vocals, guitar): I really like your questions! My favourite musician of all time is John Frusciante. I adore his live vibe full of rock inspiration. And as a rock band my role model would be something between Thee Oh Sees, Arcade Fire and Turnstile.

HM : You released your last album three years ago, will you promote it or will you play songs from your entire career?

Spasibo; Igor Shaevskiy (guitar): We are going to play our favorite songs from all the albums. It will be a 1.5 hour set and we will do our best to charm Belgrade the way it charmed us.

HM : And are you working on new songs?

Spasibo; Igor Shaevskiy (guitar): We have some new demo recordings and we’ll start working on them after the gig. And we will try to record new stuff as soon as it’s ready. But we haven’t decided yet if it’ll be an album, or an EP, or a series of singles. Stay tuned, new songs are coming!

HM : What do you expect from this concert?

Spasibo; Igor Shaevskiy (guitar): Personally, I expect a crowd of happy sweaty people hugging each other after the gig and feeling much better than before. And I’m going to be one of them.
